Midsummer predawn darkness fills an unfinished corridor in a Jiangxi renovation zone, where dust-muted air settles over bare concrete walls and exposed structural beams. A demo permit sleeve board stands upright against a rough plaster surface, its printed text partially obscured by the heavy, still atmosphere. Cool neon light reflects off the damp floor, creating elongated blue streaks that cut through the dimness. A narrow beam of window light falls across the upper wall, highlighting floating dust particles and the texture of raw cement. No tools or workers occupy the space, leaving the site in a state of waiting. A faint reflection of the permit board shimmers on the wet patch of floor near the baseboard.
