Ukulele on Cushion Beside Cocoa Cup

Honey-colored light spills across a worn reading nook cushion, illuminating the smooth curves of a small ukulele resting beside a ceramic cup filled with dark cocoa. The wood grain of the instrument catches the copper-toned glow filtering through the window, while deep shadows pool in the creases of the fabric. Outside, the heavy gray of monsoon rain blurs the glass, against the warm interior. Condensation beads along the rim of the cup, and the soft texture of the cushion shows signs of frequent use. A faint reflection of the window frame glimmers on the polished surface of the ukulele body.
