Warm glow from hanging string lights fills a long renovation hallway near Cotonou, meeting flat winter daylight bleeding from the far end. Metal drywall carts stand beside patches of pale plaster, their wheels resting on the concrete floor. A sequence of door openings lines the walls, each sealed with strips of blue painter's tape that create rhythmic rectangular patterns against the unfinished surfaces. Patch buckets sit under the carts, their lids closed and contents hidden. Clean surfaces and restrained visual clutter define the space, showing the orderly progression of construction work within a mechanical room. The light falls across the rough concrete, highlighting the sharp edge of tape against the floor.
