Early morning light has not yet broken over the industrial sector of Toronto, leaving the sky a deep, bruised purple. A high-voltage substation stands stark against the dim horizon, its ceramic insulators glistening with fresh rain under the harsh, artificial glare of floodlights. The wet concrete pads reflect the electric blue and yellow tones of the lamps, creating a slick, shimmering surface. In the distance, the silhouette of a CN Tower spire pierces the low clouds, at the base of the scene in the city. Raindrops rest on the metal lattice of the electrical equipment, catching the light like scattered diamonds.
