The late afternoon light casts a diffuse gray tone over the Bryggen wharf in Bergen, Norway, where rows of colorful wooden buildings line the edge of the harbor. Several small fishing boats with peeling paint rest against the stone quay, their hulls reflecting in the dark, rippling water. The sky is heavy with clouds, typical of the region, creating a flat horizon line that separates the industrial activity of the port from the distant hills.
