Terracotta Bowl in Brussels
by Monica Moore
A small terracotta bowl rests on a rough stone windowsill in a Brussels apartment, catching the bright clear afternoon light. The warm orange clay contrasts with the cool gray of the historic building's facade visible just beyond the glass. Inside the shallow dish, a few dried lavender sprigs lie scattered, their purple hues muted by the strong sunlight. Dust motes dance in the air above the rim, highlighting the texture of the baked earth against the smooth pane.
