Tea Cups in Luang Prabang

by Sara Kent

Dusk settles over a Luang Prabang street corner as light rain blurs the neon glow of a nearby temple sign. A vendor in a translucent rain poncho stands beside a wooden cart, carefully arranging small clay cups for evening tea service. Beside the cart, a row of copper pots catches the dim ambient light, their surfaces reflecting the wet pavement. A pair of rubber boots rests near the cart's wheel, scuffed and muddy from the day's work. The scene is busy yet intimate, with steam rising from a teapot into the cool air. Raindrops bead on the vendor’s plastic sheeting, adding texture to the otherwise smooth surfaces.
