The cool stillness before sunrise settles over a San Diego street where the sky holds a deep indigo hue. A vintage storefront with peeling paint stands along the sidewalk, its glass door reflecting the dim ambient light. A worn doormat lies flat against the concrete step, slightly curled at the corners. Inside the shop, a single desk lamp casts a weak, yellow glow, illuminating a cluttered counter with scattered papers and a small mending basket. The street is empty, save for a parked bicycle leaning against a lamppost.
