Under the flat glare of noon, a weathered rattan chair sits alone on the pale limestone paving of Dubrovnik's Stradun, its curved back facing the towering stone facades of the Renaissance-era buildings. To the left, a small shop window displays a cluster of green houseplants in terracotta pots, their leaves sharp against the bright glass. The harsh sunlight casts short, dark shadows beneath the chair and the plant stands, showing the texture of the ancient stone walls that line the pedestrian street. Tourists walk past in the distance, blurred by the distance, while the architectural details of the arched doorways and wrought-iron balconies remain clearly defined in the intense midday light.
