Sufi Musician Plays Ney Flute on Navoiy Theater Stage

Bright fluorescent tubes cast harsh white light across a wooden theater stage in Navoiy, illuminating a Sufi musician seated cross-legged. He holds a traditional ney flute to his lips, eyes closed in concentration. The performer wears a simple white robe and a tall cylindrical hat. Behind him, low-hanging clouds appear as a painted backdrop, creating a stark contrast with the artificial indoor lighting. The wide panoramic view shows the empty rows of red velvet seats stretching into the shadows. One beam of light highlights the reed texture of the instrument and the smooth fabric of the robe. Dust motes float in the air, caught in the harsh glow of the overhead fixtures. The wooden floorboards show signs of wear, reflecting the sterile light from above.
