Stucco Wall just after sunrise in Rio De Janeiro

by Marcia Finch

Morning light cuts sharply through the narrow gap between two whitewashed buildings in Rio de Janeiro, casting a bright diagonal stripe across the rough, cracked painted stucco of the left wall. The ground is paved with worn cobblestones, uneven and stained with age. A few pigeons scatter near the base of the wall, their gray feathers against the white plaster. To the right, a small flowerpot sits on a low ledge, holding a simple green plant. The scene is quiet, with the sun highlighting the texture of the old walls and the dust in the air. A blue door frame is visible in the background, partially obscured by shadow.
