Street Vendor Pouring Arabic Coffee in Dhaka
Warm amber light spills from a string of bulbs draped overhead, illuminating a vendor's hands as he tilts a brass pot to pour steaming Arabic coffee into a small handleless cup. The vendor wears a loose white kurta, his sleeves rolled up to reveal dusted forearms. Behind the brass vessel, sacks of dried spices and colorful dried fruits line the roadside stall, their textures rough against the smooth metal. Fine dust motes hang suspended in the warm glow, catching the light like tiny stars. The steam rises in thin, wavering ribbons, visible against the darkening evening sky where city lights begin to flicker in the distance. A small pile of cardamom pods rests on the wooden counter beside the cup, their green shells against the dark wood grain. The scene ends with the vendor's thumb pressing firmly against the pot's rim, steadying the pour.
