The cool stillness before sunrise casts a dim blue light over a narrow Osaka alleyway where a street vendor prepares for the day. A stainless steel cart holds a glass jar filled with cold water, its surface beaded with fresh condensation that catches the faint ambient glow. Beside the jar, a cluster of small potted succulents sits on the cart’s edge, their green leaves against the gray pavement. The vendor, bundled in a thick coat, adjusts a stack of terracotta bowls near the steam rising from a nearby noodle pot.
