Wet asphalt reflects the pale, diffused light of early morning as a cyclist navigates the slick curve of North Terrace, their bicycle basket tilted slightly with rainwater pooling inside. Beside the curb, a street sweeper pauses near a row of parked scooters, leaning on a broom with a worn wooden handle, while another worker nearby adjusts a bright orange traffic cone. The scene is busy but orderly, with pedestrians huddling under umbrellas near the entrance of the State Library, their movements quick and purposeful. A discarded clothespin jar sits on a nearby bench, forgotten in the rush, its contents spilled slightly onto the damp wood.
