Steel Curls and Blue Oil in Avellaneda Shop

Heavy steel curls coil tightly around the jaws of a worn industrial vise, their silver edges catching the honeyed evening light. A thick layer of blue cutting oil coats the metal surfaces, creating a glossy, wet sheen that reflects the dimming sky. Outside the workshop window, a light drizzle blurs the gray afternoon into soft streaks, against the sharp, utilitarian lines of the tool. The vise rests on a rough concrete workbench, its weight anchored by decades of use. The turn of seasons is visible in the cool, low angle of the sun that spills across the oily ridges. one drop of blue fluid rests on the edge of a curl, suspended against the dark metal.
