Staircase in Cape Town

A steep, tiled staircase in a Bo-Kaap house glows under the fading summer light, its vibrant blue steps against the warm yellow stucco walls. A metal railing, painted white and slightly chipped, runs along the side, catching the last rays of the sun. At the bottom, a small garden patch is visible, where a few bougainvillea branches spill over the edge, their pink flowers bright against the green leaves. A simple wooden work stool sits near the entrance, holding a pair of worn gardening gloves and a small trowel.
