Golden honeyed light spills across a harvested grain field in Quebec City, turning round hay bales into dark, rounded silhouettes against the bright sky. The dry season has left the stubble short and brittle, creating a textured carpet of straw that stretches toward the horizon. Humid air hangs heavy after rain, softening the distant tree line into a hazy, indistinct wall of green. Each bale sits tight and compact, their rough surfaces catching the last warmth of the day. Shadows lengthen rapidly across the stubble, marking the swift transition from day to night. at the edge is the sharp, jagged edge of a single bale where the backlight burns through the straw fibers.
