Shop Counter in Brussels

Bright late morning light floods the interior of a traditional Brussels chocolate shop, illuminating rows of wooden display cases filled with pralines. On a polished oak counter, a pair of thick, quilted oven mitts rests near a brass scale, evidence of recent packaging work. Sunlight streams through the tall arched window, casting a sharp, geometric shadow of the wrought-iron balcony railing onto the pale plaster wall behind the counter. One orange peel curls on a small ceramic plate nearby, its vibrant color against the muted tones of the shop. Outside, the blurred shapes of pedestrians pass by on the cobblestone street, adding a subtle sense of movement to the stillness inside.
