The late afternoon sun casts a heavy copper glow over a narrow Shanghai alleyway, illuminating the peeling paint of a traditional red lacquered wood door frame on the left. A small brown dog stands near the threshold, its fur catching the warm light as it looks toward a metal utility cart with visible caster wheels parked on the cracked pavement. Beside the cart, a terracotta flowerpot holds a sparse green plant, against the urban decay.
