Under the flat, diffused light of an overcast midday in Fukuoka, a narrow alleyway between traditional machiya townhouses reveals a lived-in service entrance. A weathered wooden doorframe, painted in faded indigo, stands slightly ajar, revealing a glimpse of a dim interior where a hammered copper kettle catches the muted ambient light on a low counter. Outside, a heavy-duty dust mop leans against the wet stone paving, its bristles damp from recent cleaning, while a simple iron coat hook holds a single yellow rain poncho that adds a sharp, vibrant splash of color against the grey stone.
