Service Entrance in Bristol
by Luke Chang
A sun-drenched alleyway in Bristol’s Harbourside reveals a cluttered service entrance where a battered red toolbox rests against a peeling white door, its metal latches glinting in the late afternoon heat. Beside it, a yellow plastic dustpan leans precariously against a stack of damp cardboard boxes, catching the warm, low-angle light that stretches long shadows across the wet cobblestones. The scene is anchored by the rough texture of aged brickwork, stained with years of coastal salt and rain, contrasting sharply with the smooth, glossy surface of a nearby glass sugar jar left on a narrow windowsill. One handkerchief, crumpled and grey, lies discarded near the drain, blending into the gritty urban fabric.
