Rough concrete walls meet peeling lime-green paint, cluttered with chipped ceramic bowls and a rusted coffee tin sitting beside a bundle of dried chilies. A woman in a faded floral blouse leans over a stainless steel sink, scrubbing a wok with a bright orange dish brush, water spraying in droplets that catch the neon sign reflected from the street outside. Above her, dusty wooden shelves hold stacks of plastic containers and a small potted hydrangea wilting in the heat.
