The lighting is diffused, eliminating harsh shadows while highlighting the texture of the fur. The composition follows the rule of thirds, placing the eyes at the upper intersection points. Fine particles of dust float in the air near the wall, and the dog's dark eyes hold a steady, observant gaze. A brass ring on the floor catches a thin amber reflection.
