Reptile Care Station in Matola Adoption Room
by Roger Short
Indigo twilight falls through the windows of an adoption room in Matola, casting cool shadows along the concrete walls. A reptile travel hide box sits centrally under the harsh glare of a bright back-room utility light. Acrylic trays stack neatly beside the box, their edges reflecting the artificial glow. Soft fleece lines the interior of the enclosure, against the rigid stainless fittings that secure the structure. Laminated care cards with visible text rest against the side, their glossy surfaces catching the light. A handled plastic container sits nearby, its translucent material softening the utility feel. The shallow depth of field blurs the background kennels and grooming stations, leaving the focus sharp on the textures of the fleece and the smooth plastic. One reflection of the overhead bulb dances on the curved rim of an acrylic tray.
