Bright late morning light floods a cramped San Diego kitchen, illuminating a chaotic work surface where home renovation meets daily life. A white porcelain cup sits precariously on the edge of a laminate counter, its base leaving a distinct water ring on the smooth surface. Nearby, a blue and white porcelain bowl holds a tangle of electrical wires, against the rough, water-stained plaster wall behind it. A metal tool caddy rests open, spilling a chisel and a mixing spoon onto a folding table that serves as an impromptu workspace.
