Rattan Hammock in Denpasar

A woven rattan hammock hangs taut between two thick teak posts on a shaded, tiled veranda in Denpasar. The cool early morning light falls through nearby fronds, casting dappled shadows across the weathered wood and pale stone floor. One faded pink cushion rests against the curved backrest, its fabric slightly frayed at the edges from daily use. Dust motes drift slowly in the slanted beam of light that illuminates the coarse weave of the matting.
