Predawn Retail Charging Rail in Fitting Room Corridor
by Noelle Nava
Stark fluorescent tubes cast a cool, clinical glow down a narrow fitting room corridor in Acapulco de Juárez. A metal charging rail runs along the left wall, its polished surface reflecting sharp, linear highlights against the predawn darkness. The rail holds several dark cables and small adapters, organized with practical precision. Behind the equipment, the walls are painted in a muted, neutral tone, against the metallic sheen of the hardware. The floor appears smooth and slightly reflective, mirroring the overhead lights in elongated streaks. No people occupy the space, leaving the focus entirely on the functional arrangement of the merchandise support system. The turn of the season is suggested only by the cool, low angle of the artificial light that feels distinct from the warmth of midday. A small dust particle catches the edge of a highlight on the rail's upper corner.
