Dark walls absorb the dim light of a single projector beam illuminating a goldsmith workbench. A polished metal ring tray holds a few silver bands while white repair envelopes stack in neat rows. Loupe cloths rest folded beside the tools. The surface gleams with a clean, restrained finish against the predawn gloom. Rain streaks the nearby window, blurring the outside darkness into soft gray smears. Shadows stretch long across the wood grain. A small reflection of the projector light catches on the edge of a metal tweezers lying on the bench. The scene remains quiet and ready for the morning rush.
