Warm candlelight glows against the predawn darkness of a quiet guest corridor in Haiphong, illuminating a crib storage room before the lobby wakes up. Stacks of wooden and metal cribs line the walls, their surfaces polished to a sheen that reflects the flickering flames. Dust particles drift visibly through the shafts of light cutting across the floor. Reflections in the glossy tiles create a mirrored composition, doubling the rows of nursery furniture. Rain streaks blur the glass of a nearby service door, hinting at the wet season outside. A folded blanket rests on the lowest shelf, its texture soft against the rigid metal frames. The light catches the edge of a crib rail, highlighting the smooth finish.
