The still hours before dawn cast a cool blue tone over a narrow Osaka alleyway where a convenience store glows with warm fluorescent light. Inside the glass window, a staff member in a dark uniform presses a metal spatula against a hot teppan grill, cooking a small portion of okonomiyaki. The steam rises visibly into the cold air, condensing slightly on the cooler glass pane. Outside, the wet pavement reflects the red and white signage of the shop, against the dark silhouettes of nearby residential buildings. A quiet, candid moment of early morning preparation, showing the texture of the cooking surface and the stark difference between the interior warmth and the exterior chill.
