The still hours before dawn cast a deep blue hue over the Adriatic waters in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Stone quaysides reflect the dim light as a small wooden rowing boat rests against the edge, its hull worn from years of use. A simple hand tool, perhaps a hook or net mending implement, lies on the deck of the vessel. Nearby, a clear glass latch on a nearby storage box catches the faint ambient light. The historic stone walls of the old town loom in the background, their textures visible in the low light. No tourists are present, only the quiet reality of early morning preparation for the day's work along the coast.
