A narrow barge navigates a gentle bend in the Vltava River, its silhouette framed by the dark outlines of willow trees lining the bank. On the quay, a metal boot scraper sits near the entrance of a historic building with peeling yellow stucco and iron balconies. Pedestrians in heavy coats hurry past, their breath visible in the cool air. The quiet, lived-in reality of the city at daybreak, with the river reflecting the muted tones of the early morning sky and the distant spires of Prague Castle fading into the mist.
