Pouring Tea in Dakar

A street-side tea stall in Dakar glows under the deep indigo of blue hour, framed by the vibrant magenta spikes of bougainvillea spilling over a white stucco wall. Inside the open kiosk, a vendor in a crisp white shirt pours steaming sweet tea from a tall glass bottle into a row of clear tumblers, the liquid catching the warm yellow spill of the interior bulb. The counter is a lived-in surface of polished concrete, scattered with stacked ceramic plates and a wooden fruit crate holding fresh oranges, while the cool ambient light of the fading day contrasts sharply with the artificial warmth.
