Under the deep indigo twilight of a Portland evening, the steel structure of a bridge dominates the upper frame, its industrial cage swinging slightly in the crosswind above the Willamette River. Below, the dark water reflects the city lights while a barge moves slowly through the channel, emitting a faint steam haze that rises above the rail.
