Flat noon light washes over a wooden bureau shelf perched on a steep hillside near Praia, where a porcelain shepherd boy figurine stands in dappled shadows cast by overhead leaves. The white ceramic glazes reflect the harsh midday sun, creating bright highlights against the matte wood grain. Thin mist drifts low across the background, softening the distant vegetation and blending the edge of the shelf into the green slope. Seasonal change is visible in the mix of lingering green leaves and browning tips along the branches above. The figurine’s painted blue tunic contrasts with the earthy tones of the bureau, while its small hands rest at its sides. A sharp shadow from a leaf tip falls across the figurine’s left boot.
