The scene is alive with casual interaction, their hands moving with practiced rhythm over the green tiles. In the background, the red brick of a traditional siheyuan wall contrasts with the modern glass facade of a distant high-rise, at the base of the moment in the city's layered history. One red kite, its tail frayed and trailing, hangs motionless from a bare branch of a persimmon tree nearby, caught in the stillness of the hour.
