Pickle Jar in New York at Copper-toned Light Before Dusk

A weathered metal table fan rests on a cracked concrete stoop in front of a brownstone building, its blades still. Next to it sits an open pickle jar, the brine catching the low copper light of the early evening. A pedestrian in a heavy wool coat walks past, blurred by motion, their reflection faintly visible in the glass of a nearby bodega window. The sodium lamps along the sidewalk begin to flicker on, casting long orange shadows across the wet pavement. Steam rises from a subway grate nearby, mixing with the cool air. A quiet moment of urban life, with everyday objects left behind on the steps, lit by the warm, fading light of a New York dusk.
