Pedestrians at First Light in in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

Pedestrians at First Light

by Todd Perry

Morning light falls through the high, arched windows of the Adelaide Arcade, catching the damp sheen on the polished terrazzo floor. A street musician sits near a wrought-iron pillar, his guitar case open, while a woman in a bright yellow apron pauses to check her phone, water droplets clinging to her hair comb. Nearby, a vendor’s cart displays enamel bowls filled with fresh berries, their vibrant reds against the grey, rain-washed stone of the arcade’s façade.
