First light after rain washes the Avenida Paulista in cool, diffused gray, reflecting the wet asphalt with a mirror-like sheen that stretches toward the distant horizon of glass towers. A lone figure in a heavy wool cardigan walks briskly past a construction barrier, their silhouette sharp against the muted cityscape. On a nearby sidewalk café table, a stainless steel kettle sits beside a ceramic vase holding a single, rain-dampened branch, while a wicker chair casts a complex, intricate shadow across the damp plaster wall behind it. The quiet tension of a metropolis waking up, with the wet surfaces amplifying the depth of the urban canyon and the solitary presence of the pedestrian moving through the mist.
