Cool blue twilight washes the white ceramic floor of an El Paso grooming bay, highlighting a stainless steel tray resting near the center. Four wet paw prints stain the metal surface, their pads sharply defined against the silver. Long, pale streaks from a recent mop job smear across the surrounding tiles, softening the hard edges of the room. The late spring air holds a stillness that settles over the clean, uncluttered space. Dust motes are absent; only the wet sheen of the floor reflects the fading twilight. The tray sits slightly askew, its rim catching a sharp glint of the last blue light before the room darkens.
