The deep indigo twilight of La Paz settles over the steep urban slopes as a heavy freight train crosses a massive concrete railway viaduct in the distance. The structure’s repeating arches frame the moving cars against the darkening sky. Below, narrow streets wind through densely packed housing, illuminated by the warm, scattered glow of streetlights and window bulbs. A few pedestrians navigate the cobblestone path near the base of the viaduct, their silhouettes sharp against the fading light. The industrial infrastructure intersecting with the residential cityscape during the last moments of daylight, showing the verticality and rugged terrain characteristic of the Bolivian capital.
