The setting sun casts a warm amber glow over a bustling Osaka street corner where a vendor tends to a sizzling flat-top grill. A metal tray holds several round takoyaki balls turning on the hot surface, releasing wisps of steam into the cooling evening air. The vendor, wearing a traditional happi coat, uses a small pick to adjust the food while customers wait nearby. Behind the grill, a neon sign for a nearby izakaya begins to flicker on, against the fading daylight. The lively, candid energy of local street food culture as the day transitions into night in this historic Japanese city.
