Orange Light on Trinidad Fruit Crates
by Casey Ashley
Vibrant orange hues from the setting sun spill across a weathered street corner in Trinidad, illuminating wooden crates overflowing with tropical fruit. The produce tumbles onto the concrete sidewalk, spilling past the edge of a shuttered arcade where tall, dark shutters stand closed against the cooling evening. Low-hanging clouds diffuse the horizon, casting long, dramatic shadows that stretch across the pavement. The Dutch angle tilt of the view emphasizes the restless energy of the metropolitan scene, making the stacked crates appear to lean precariously into the street. Rough textures of the wood contrast with the smooth, waxy skins of the fruit, while the cool season air settles over the urban landscape. A deep shadow falls beneath the arcade overhang, at the base of the bright display in the fading light.
