Rain-slicked Salamanca Place glistens under the heavy, diffused grey light of early morning, the wet cobblestones reflecting the muted tones of the sandstone warehouses that line the historic precinct. A solitary orange cat, damp and cautious, navigates the edge of a closed fishmonger’s stall, its fur contrasting sharply with the slick, dark stone. Nearby, a stack of empty glass tumblers sits on a metal cart, water droplets clinging to their rims, waiting for the day’s trade to begin.
