The harsh flat glare of noon illuminates a busy street corner in Izmir, Turkey, where the bright white sun casts sharp, dark shadows beneath the awnings of low-rise commercial buildings. A vintage yellow public bus is stopped near the curb, its doors open as passengers wait in line. Pedestrians in mid-century attire walk along the sidewalk, some shielding their eyes from the intense light. The architecture features simple concrete facades with small shop signs visible above ground-floor entrances. Palm trees line the street, their fronds still against the windless air.
