Deep in the night, a dimly lit street in Luang Prabang reveals the silhouette of a massive strangler fig engulfing an old host tree against the dark sky. The gnarled roots and dense canopy dominate the left side of the frame, casting long shadows on the wet pavement below. A few monks in saffron robes walk slowly along the edge of the road, their figures barely visible in the low light. Street lamps cast a yellowish glow on the scene, highlighting the texture of the bark and the wet ground. A small, solitary bowl sits on a nearby ledge, catching the faint light. The surrounding buildings are quiet, with closed wooden shutters and dark windows.
