Night Light Sweeps Louisiana Market Ruins

by Georgia Cuevas

A stark beam of white light cuts through the deep night, sweeping across the skeletal remains of a covered market hall in Louisiana. Ivy chokes the crumbling masonry walls, where vines hang heavy and wet against the dark stone. The roof structure collapses inward, with rotting wooden beams jutting out at jagged angles. Wind whips loose metal sheets and torn canvas awnings, blurring their edges as the light passes. Dust and debris scatter across the dirt floor while shadows stretch long beneath the broken stalls. At the edge of the illumination, a splintered post leans precariously against a moss-covered stone pillar.
