Newspaper Blowing Across Midnight Crosswalk

Wet asphalt reflects streaks of passing headlight flashes that cut through the heavy overcast midnight gloom. One sheet of newspaper skitters across the white stripes of a deserted crosswalk, its ink blurring where rain has soaked the paper. Behind the crossing, the corner cafe in Shymkent sits dark, its windows reflecting the gray sky and the damp street. Rain beads on the foreground railing, slightly obscuring the view of the falling leaf and the wet pavement. The scene is defined by the harsh, intermittent light from a vehicle moving past, illuminating the swirling dust and the soaked texture of the road. The paper crumples as it hits a puddle, its edges curling under the weight of the water.
