One vertical neon tube casts a harsh, cool glow on the corrugated metal roof of a street food cart parked along a shuttered arcade in Bhubaneswar. The dry season leaves the ground covered in scattered, brittle leaves and crumpled paper wrappers that the wind funnels along the curb in a restless streak. Behind the cart, dark, closed wooden shutters of the arcade stretch into the shadowy distance, their surfaces worn by time. The silver light reflects off the wet asphalt, highlighting the texture of the peeling paint on the cart's side panel. Debris dances in the wind-blown gap between the cart and the building wall, creating a sharp line of movement against the stillness of the closed shops.
