Naval Dispatch Map Drawer Twilight Nile Delta

Steel-blue twilight settles over the rough deck of a naval vessel in the Nile Delta. A dispatch strip-map drawer sits on a weathered metal table, its contents organized with rigid precision against the chaos of the environment. Rotor wash churns the air, lifting a fine haze of sea spray and dust that softens the edges of the metal surfaces. The early spring wind tugs at the loose papers and flutters the edges of the maps, yet the arrangement remains orderly. Light reflects off the wet rivets and the smooth, dark finish of the drawer handles. One sheet of graph paper rests at the very edge of the table, its grid lines blurred by the swirling particles in the air.
